Two Russian military aircraft flew into Korea's air defense identification zone without warning on Friday. According to the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the planes approached Korea's ADIZ on the East Sea at 1:41 p.m. without paying Seoul the customary courtesy of identifying themselves.
Korea immediately scrambled fighter jets and broadcast a warning. The Russian jets entered the zone on the northern side of Ulleung Island at 2:08 p.m. They buzzed in and out of the zone before eventually flying away on the northeastern side of Dokdo Island at 5:53 p.m.
