'2020 Golden Disc Awards' Announces Dates, Promises 'Fairness' with Strict Judging Criteria

The Golden Disc Awards has just announced that they will be holding their 34th award show, confirming the dates from January 4-5, 2020 at the Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul.
On January 4, the ceremony will be dedicated to awards in the digital music category, while the January 5 portion of the show will be dedicated to awards in the physical album sales category. The Golden Disc Awards promised fans and viewers that as one of Korea's "most prestigious music awards", they will ensure "fairness" to all the awards presented. They further added that online votes from fans will be exempt this year once again.
After strictly analyzing Gaon chart data of music released between October 2018 until October 2019, the winners will only then be chosen, and announced. This year, however, taking into account the public's skepticism regarding the manipulation of music charts, there will be a panel of music analyst judges that will take up 40 percent of the award selection criteria. In previous years, that number was only 30 percent.
In total, there will be 50 professionals within the Golden Disc Awards committee members, which will include music show PDs, music critics, media reporters, and more, that will be a part of the judge panel.
Stay tuned as the nominees for the 34th annual Golden Disc Awards will be announced this coming Friday.
