Beginning August 1, 2018, a new military service law passes that will affect the maximum age that a Korean male can delay the mandatory service. Korean male ages have been cut from age 30 to age 28. This means that Korean males (28) can no longer delay their enlistment for the reasons of being in graduate school, sibling overlapment, studying, and ambassador promotions. There will also be a travel limitation which permits five international travels with a maximum of 6 months.
This new law will affect many male idols and celebrities who have been holding off. Those male celebrities born in the year of 1989 and 1990 will have to enlist in the military this year. Some idols include SHINee's Onew, BTOB's Eunkwang, Highlight's Doojoon, Junhyung, Yoseob, Kikwang, EXO's Xiumin, and Big Bang's Seungri.
Are you shock to hear about this new law?
