More people are using their phones while on the road despite warnings that such a distraction can kill. More than 90 percent of drivers admitted to multitasking with their smartphones, according to a survey released on Wednesday by Hyundai Marine and Fire Insurance.
Seven out of 10 said they check their phones when stopped at traffic lights, while others used them when stuck in traffic or driving in residential areas. Drivers are prohibited from using their phones while driving. Violators risk a fine of about US$60.
