It looks like Korean novelist Jung Soo Young has found herself in some hot water after releasing the cover art for her new book ‘The Surgeon’s Lover’, which looks strangely familiar to BTS fans. Some ARMYs are accusing the author of allegedly copying BTS’s album cover art for their most recent release ‘HwaYangYeonHwa Pt. 2’.
Looking at BTS’s album cover, there is a blue and gray color scheme with the image of a blurred butterfly as well as what looks like flower petals in the background. The title of the album is also written within a boxed graphic. Jung Soo Young’s book cover for ‘The Surgeon’s Lover’ features a blue and grayish blue color scheme with a similar blurred butterfly and petal pattern in the background. The title of her book is also written within a boxed graphic. What also makes the similarity uncanny is the placement of the words as well, which are aligned to the middle of the cover – just like the ‘HwaYangYeonHwa Pt. 2’ album art.
Fans also felt suspicious of the possible plagiarism since the novel was released some time after the release of BTS’s album, adding fuel to the fire. Currently BTS and the novelist have yet to address the issue, but understandably, many fans are upset.
