SK Wyverns pitcher Kim Kwang-hyun put his dream of playing in U.S. Major League Baseball on hold for now, but things are still looking up. Kim renewed his contract with SK Wyverns for W600 million (US$1=W1,103) on Sunday, up from W270 million he earned this year.
He decided to stay at home at least for another season, as he failed to reach a deal with the San Diego Padres last week due to a lower-than-expected offer. "The hefty raise reflects the contributions Kim has made to the team and what we expect from him next year," the team said.
On the same day, he got married at a hotel in Seoul. Kim first met his bride in 2013 through a circle of his friends and they will honeymoon in the United States. "I'm happy to get married to someone who has always supported me," Kim said.
