B.I Not Credited with Writing Eun Ji Won’s ‘Worthless’ – YG Responds

On Thursday June 27th (KST), Sechskies member Eun Ji Won released his new album ‘G1’and in that album was a song titled ‘Worthless’. Fans of former iKON leader, B.I (also known as Hanbin) recognized the song’s lyrics and rhythm as being from the same self-written song that he shared via social media back in December of 2017. Despite having written the song YG Entertainment excluded B.I from the song credits on the album. In response to this fan stated hashtaging #CreditHanbin on Twitter.
In response to disgruntled fans YG Entertainment issued a statement to clarify the reasoning behind the exclusion: “’Worthless’ is a song co-composed by B.I and Millennium. B.I’s name wasn’t included on the tracklist due to his personal request, but he’ll be registered to the Korean Music Copyright Association (KOMCA) as the co-composer.”
B.I had recently left YG and iKON after becoming caught up in a drug scandal involving marijuana and LSD. This is not B.I first time being excluded from a song’s initial credit. He was also excluded from BLACKPINK’s ‘Whistle’ song credit, but just as with ‘Worthless’, was credited by KOMCA.
How do you feel about B.I’s name being excluded from album song/album credits in this way?
