Jane Lee, June 12, 2019, 12:15 p.m.
On June 12, shortly after Dispatch's exculsive report on B.I's illegal drug use and buying, iKON's leader B.I posted a lengthy apology on his personal Instagram account.
Read his letter below:
"This is Kim Han Bin.
First, I want to sincerely apologize for causing an issue of public criticism due to my extremely immoral actions.
It's true that during a time when I was deeply struggling and miserable, I wanted to rely on something that I should never have shown interest in. However, even then, I was scared and terrified of it, and was unable to partake in it.
Nonetheless, I feel so embarrassed and apologetic toward my fans and my group members, who were undoubtedly hurt by me and disappointed in me the most, due to my immoral speech and word choice.
I humbly reflect on my mistakes and plan to leave the team.
Once again, I bow my head in apology to the fans and the members. I'm sorry."

Shortly after B.I's announcement of his departure, YG Entertainment confirmed that his contract has been terminated.
YGE announced, "We apologize that the problem regarding label artist Kim Han Bin (B.I) has caused disappointment. Kim Han Bin is feeling heavy responsibility for the impact of this recent issue, and he has decided to accept his withdrawal from the team and contract termination. YG is becoming aware of the responsibility we have to manage our artists. We apologize sincerely once again."
Following controversies about Seungri and Yang Hyun Suk, the label saw their stocks start to fall.B.I's drug scandal has led to YGE's stocks to fall further. Since Dispatch's exclusive report, YGE stocks have dropped 4.05% to 31,950 Won ($27.03 USD) a share. The total dollar market value of YGE's shares also fell from 834.7 billion Won ($705.6 million USD) this past January to 581.4 billion Won ($491.5 million USD) after B.I's news.
In addition, iKON fans have started a petition on Change.org, stating that B.I should not have to leave the group. Over 350,000 people have signed and many are maddened at the decision considering B.I was only confirmed to buying the drugs, not using them. Fans are also upset that YG terminated B.I's contract so quickly when other starts who have also been involved with drugs are still signed to YG.

Furthermore, the variety TV Shows "Laws of the Jungle" and "Grand Budaguest" have confirmed that B.I will be entirely edited out for broadcasts.
A representative from SBS's 'Laws of the Jungle' stated, "We have decided in the direction of editing B.I's appearances out as carefully as possible." Previously, B.I filmed a new season of 'Laws of the Jungle in Lost Jungle', expected to premiere this June 15
