BTS continues to dominate with their comeback! On April 12th, it was revealed that major music site Melon ended up crashing after the release of their album 'Map of the Soul: Persona'! Melon revealed that they are currently looking into the issue in order to get it up and running once more: "Due to high traffic, there have been connection issues on the mobile app. We're currently looking into the issue and will take immediate action."
Not only did they crash the site, they also ended up setting a new record on music streaming site Spotify and major music chart Hanteo.
On Spotify, it was confirmed that BTS had surpassed over 5 billion streams, making them not only the first K-Pop group, but the first Asian artist to have set the record. In addition to breaking the record, BTS took control of Spotify's 'Teen Party' playlist in order to show some of their favorite songs in general!
On Hanteo, Hanteo confirmed that BTS had sold over 1.38 million copies within three hours! At the six-hour mark, BTS has sold around a total of 1.5 million copies! The huge amount in short time placed BTS' 'Map of the Soul: Persona' as the fastest-selling album in the history of Hanteo.
