On SUGA's 25th birthday, the BTS rapper fulfilled a promise he made four years ago. Fans were surprised that the star remembered what they presumed to be an off-the-cuff remark and they were touched at how SUGA fulfilled his promise.
At a fansign on September 18, 2014, SUGA promised fans that he would buy them meat (for barbecue) when he was a lot more successful and had a lot more money.
One year later, he was asked when would he fulfill this promise and he gave an exact date: March 9, 2018.
Some fans didn't think SUGA would remember but it was revealed from a fan that SUGA had made a donation of Korean beef (Hanwoo) to her parents' workplace, which is a children's facility in Daegu, his hometown.
"I think he sent meat to my parent's workplace TT Yoongi promised to buy meat on March 9, 2018. I'm in tears. He's so kind. But I can't reveal the name of the children's facility that my parents work at!"
An employee of a foster home revealed that they received a call from Big Hit Entertainment and that a package of first class Hanwoo beef arrived at the facility with the package in ARMY's name.
Big Hit Entertainment then confirmed that SUGA had made Hanwoo donations to 39 children's facilities in ARMY's name. It's presumed he spent 20 million KRW (~$18,780 USD) on the donations.
Netizens are praising his generosity:
"I thought he would do a mukbang on V App or gift Hanwoo to a few fans. I didn't even think that he would give to children's facilities and make the donation in ARMY's name. TTTTTT"
"SUGA is so sweet TT"
"I'm not even a fan of BTS but that's amazing. I applaud him."
"He's the best."
"There's a reason why BTS is so successful."
