The city of Changwon in South Gyeongsang Province held its 8th annual autumn festival last weekend. The Changwon Festival this year was expanded to include more diverse cultural performances despite not having its usual street parade. This provided both residents and visitors an opportunity to appreciate the city's old and new charms.
Traditional performances were staged by the nation's most renowned artists and musicians, including a large drum performance with traditional ink paintings in the background. Traditional musicians also paired with pop singers to showcase a mix of modern and classical pieces.
As part of the festival a K-pop contest was also staged on Sunday, featuring 15 teams from around the world. The contestants were selected through preliminary screenings in 61 countries from an initial batch of 120,000 applicants. Popular K-pop bands such as A Pink, B.A.P., Block B, EXO, IU and Sistar performed at the event, causing fans to go wild.
