It seems like just yesterday that Roy Kim’s popular track “Spring Spring Spring” was released, and the track was met with positive response. Several accusations of plagiarism were brought up, and one composer even filed a lawsuit against the singer stating that the song was originally written by him, and copied by Roy Kim.
Composer Kim Hyung Yong filed a lawsuit against the singer in 2014 and stated that Roy Kim had copied his track “From the Landscape of the Lord”. Roy Kim denied the plagiarism claims, and after a long lawsuit the court has decided in his favor.
The court stated that even though there were similarities inbetween the songs, they weren’t identical, and other parts of the songs were different from each other. Kim Hyung Yong was unable to provide sufficient evidence about when his song was recorded and composed. Since the song wasn’t publicly released, the court stated that it would be hard for Roy Kim to have found it.
