Crime thriller "Believer" has drawn over 2 million viewers in just eight days since its release on May 22. According to the Korean Film Council, the film sold over 2 million tickets as of Tuesday, surpassing the mark at the fastest pace among Korean films released this year.

It has also surprisingly maintained its top spot at the box office amid a flush of Hollywood blockbusters such as "Deadpool 2" and "Solo: A Star Wars Story." After reaching the milestone, the main cast and the director of the film posted a photo of themselves holding balloons in celebration on their social media accounts.

The thriller revolves around a detective taking on one of Asia's biggest drug cartels.
