Former President Lee Myung-bak was taken from remand prison to Seoul National University Hospital on Monday.
He had to have a CT scan and further checkups, according to the Justice Ministry. The results are expected Tuesday and he may have to stay longer.
Lee (77) was arrested on March 22 and is on trial for corruption and abuse of office.
He has complained of chronic diseases like high blood pressure and diabetes. According to his lawyer, his health has deteriorated recently due to the scorching heat.
He has a single electric fan in his isolation cell at the top of the remand prison in Munjeong-dong, Seoul.
His lawyer asked the court on July 25 to allow him to check into hospital for treatment of sleep apnea and exacerbated diabetes. A court hearing was scheduled the following day, but Lee did not show up citing poor health.
