G-Dragon has dropped his latest solo album ‘Kwon Ji Yong’, and YG Entertainment has let us in on some behind-the-scenes stories about the filming of ‘UNTITLED’. The music video was directed by Han Sa Min who has already worked with Big Bang and G-Dragon on his own.
The song is a melancholic tune with sentimental lyrics. In order to capture the full meaning of the song, director Han Sa Min decided to go with a simple and natural feel instead of lavish and fancy setting. The main focus of the music video is G-Dragon’s facial expressions and gestures that perfectly nests with the song.
Initially, the plan was to record many footages with different scenes and switch from set designs. From there onwards, the director was going to choose the best cuts from the filming. However, things did happen accordingly as G-Dragon was able to film the whole music video under an hour. It set a new recording marking it as the shortest recording time in Big Bang’s history.
It is surprising as it takes several hours and even days to film music videos yet it took G-Dragon less than an hour to film the whole music video. The cameras were rolling the entire time as he filmed all of it in one take until the last shout, “cut”.
As soon as the first take was over, the director stated, "There's no need to continue shooting. Although there are some sets prepared for tomorrow I don't find it necessary to film anymore," as he was much satisfied with the overall take. He then added 2-3 additional footages and wrapped up the set.
The director also like the first take for the final music video since it was good without any editing. G-Dragon’s ‘One Take’ was highly praised and added a more meaningful essence for fans.
Great job, G-Dragon! Make sure to check out the video below!
