Recent reports have surfaced regarding the beautiful red and white outfits that Girls' Generation wore during the "KBS Music Festival", and many are stating that their outfits were much too similar to the outfits from the "Dolce&Gabbana" Spring 2015 collection.
On December 29th, a fan questioned the group's stylist by tweeting, "Is the Girls' Generation outfit at 'KBS Music Festival' copied from 'Dolce&Gabbana'? Or is it an homage?"
The stylist promptly responded, "It is an homage. How do you plagiarize something that you've never seen... I really liked the way [the outfit] looked and thought that it would be really pretty. So we went with the concept,
The outfits that the members of Girls' Generation wore at the "2014 KBS Music Festival" was a very simple over-sized white button up shirt matched with high-waisted red shorts with beads embroidered into them. The oufit looks very similar to the one that was introduced by "Dolce&Gabbana" for their Spring 2015 line, and was styled very similarly. The only difference between the two outfits seems to be the black shirt underneath.
Seo Soo Kyung, who worked as a stylist for Girls' Generation for about 11 years, uploaded an e-mail exchange between Tiffany and "Dolce&Gabbana" co-founders Domenico and Stefano on December 10th.
The e-mail read, "To Tiffany, we saw that you had worn a 'Dolce&Gabbana' dress at the '2014 MAMA.' You really looked great in it! Your wearing our dress was very significant to us, and it also gave us some inspiration. From Domenico and Stefano."
Netizens stated that the e-mail proved that the stylists were in contact with the luxury fashion brand before the "2014 KBS Music Festival".
The overall response from netizens seems to be negative, since they left comments such as, "Is it just okay to plagiarize once you use the word homage?" "She basically plagiarized but said that she didn't. That's absurd," and "She answered so confidently."
