Hyundai Electric Vehicles to Be Powered by LG Batteries

Hyundai Motors will use batteries manufactured by LG Chem for its first electric vehicles, according to industry insiders on Thursday. The automaker is developing a mid-sized EV. LG Chem is supplying batteries for most of Hyundai's and Kia's models. But the automakers' SUVs are equipped with batteries from SK Innovation. LG Chem will also provide batteries for the Hyundai Sonata, the plug-in version of the Kia K5 and all other plug-in hybrids.
