Hyundai Kia Experience Increased Sales in Domestic Market

Hyundai and affiliate Kia saw their combined domestic market share increase to 69 percent in October for the first time in three months. A total of 138,683 vehicles were sold here last month, excluding imported commercial vehicles, according to the Korea Automobile Manufacturers Association on Friday.
Hyundai controlled 42 percent of the car market while Kia took up 26.7 percent. Kia's market share dropped by 3.4 percent from September but Hyundai's share went up 4.7 percent. Hyundai's new Genesis and SUVs such as the Tucsan and Santa Fe led the rise in market share.
From January to October, Hyundai and Kia took up a combined market share of 69.4 percent in terms of cumulative sales, lower than the 74.6 percent in 2012 and 71.4 percent in 2013.
