Hyundai Kia Regain United States Market Share

Hyundai and its affiliate Kia saw their combined market share in the U.S. recover to the upper seven percent range in February. The total number of cars sold in the U.S. automobile market in February was 1.25 million, up 5.3 percent on-year. Of this market, Hyundai and Kia sold 96,535 cars, taking up 7.7 percent, up from 7.2 percent in January.
Hyundai sold 52,505 cars with a 4.2 percent market share thanks to increased sales of the Genesis, Sonata, and Santa Fe. Kia sold 44,030 units with a 3.5 percent market share. The New Optima and Sorrento led its sales. Hyundai will release a new Elantra, called the Avante in Korea, and Kia will unveil a new version of the New Optima, or K5 in Korea, this year.
