K pop girl group I.O.I is showing of their immense popularity by raising viewer ratings on JTBC’s Sugarman to record numbers. JTBC's 'Sugar Man' got a 3.911% on the IOI episode. 'Sugar Man' is already a highly rated program, so for IOI to increase its highest record even more is an amazing feat.
The girls' 'SNL Korea' appearance also caused the show's ratings to shoot through the roof. The new season of the comedy show had been mediocre at best. But IOI's episode averaged at 2.3% and hit a high of 3.4% during the episode. Compared to the previous episode's 1.176%, it's almost double the ratings. The same thing happened for 'A Hyung I Know', with IOI's appearance recording a new high on the show for 2.209%, the first time the show ever broke the 2% wall.
I.O.I is a South Korean girl group formed by CJ E&M through the 2016 reality show Produce 101 on Mnet. The group is composed of eleven members chosen from a pool of 101 trainees from various entertainment companies. They debuted on May 4, 2016 with a mini-album, and are expected to actively promote four albums, either as a whole or as sub-units, over the next 10 months.
