Samsung Chief Lee Jae Young was spotted on July 1st meeting with Under Armor CEO Kevin Plank in Seoul. There have been numerous rumors that the two companies are partnering in modernizing the sportswear industry. Lee was also photographed wearing an Under Armor polo shirt at a meeting of global corporate heavyweights in Sun Valley, Idaho last week.
Rumor has it that Samsung Samsung and Under Armour are to team up to create well, Smart Armour is our best guess. Just what the two are working on is anyone’s guess.
Established in 1996, Under Armor competes with Nike, Adidas and other global sportswear makers in the U.S. and is known for its line of sweat-absorbent clothes. Samsung needs to collaborate with a well-known sports apparel maker to gain an early advantage in the global market for wearable electronics after beating Apple to releasing the world’s first smartwatch. Apple has boosted cooperation with Nike, which released a bracelet-type smart device called "Fuel Band," which tracks the daily physical activity of wearers and is compatible only with the iPhone.
