On August 7, Jessica, ex-member of Girls’ Generation, sat down for an interview with Star news and shared her thoughts about her music career, Girls’ Generation’s 10th anniversary as well as her new solo mini album “My Decade.”
Q: Do you feel any pressure when you see numerous junior idol making their debut these days?
"Seeing the younger generation in 2000s, I wish nothing but the best for them. I can only imagine how tough it may be for them compared to before. I believe it's their turn to shine. Out of everyone, I love TWICE the most. They are so pretty, and it makes me feel so happy every time I see them working so hard. They look up their fellow sunbaes as role models knowing that I think I should try harder."
Q: You began your Asian Tour recently
“Yes! We started our tour in Taiwan and it was amazing. Taiwanese fans wholeheartedly greeted me with full of energy. The meeting felt like a 'Summer Storm just like my album since a lot of fans showed up to greet me.
Q: Did you produce the entire album yourself?
''Yes. I produced the entire album including the title tracks. For the MV, many directors helped me on planning, shooting, and producing after several discussions. Overall, I participated in every aspect of the production including mixing and mastering as well as jacket design."
Q: What is the overall image of 'Summer Storm'?
"I always wanted to portray more of my own unique style in my solo albums. So this time, I went for the more natural approach rather than the flash style. As for photoshoots, I necessarily didn't’ try striking a pose, and just came out the way it was intended originally. I am gradually moving away from a particular image."
Q: What does Girls' Generation mean to you? 10th-anniversary question.
"Girls’ Generation is like a fate and a memory that I never want to forget. It was such a great time for me how we all dealt with it together after all, during both the good and difficult times.”
