JinE of eight-member girl group Oh My Girl will take a break from group activities due to “health reasons,” according to her agency WM Entertainment Thursday. A post by WM Entertainment on Oh My Girl’s online fan community said that “Ever since debut JinE has suffered from symptoms of anorexia and has been receiving treatment.” The group debuted in April, 2015.
“The company has been talking and pondering on the matter with JinE and after a long discussion we decided to put our artist’s health as priority and have decided to put her on an indefinite break,” the post read.
JinE revealed in an interview with news outlet TV Report in October 2015 that she suffered an adverse effect from losing nine kilograms in two months before her promotional activities for the song, “Closer” earlier that year.
She developed esophagitis -- inflammation of the esophagus -- and, after receiving treatment, was said to be doing better. However, the sudden decision to put a halt on all of her activities suggests that her health has gotten worse.
In the post the agency said that they will support JinE’s recovery. Oh My Girl is expected to continue their activities as a seven-member girl group.
