John Kerry Meets with President Park Geun-hye

United States Secretary of State, John Kerry, landed in Seoul this Thursday, and met with President Park Geun-hye. It seemed at first that the two did not have much to discuss, as this was Kerry’s second visit to Korea in the past 10 months, and Foreign Minister Yun Byung-se was recently in Washington last month.
They followed up on the situation in the Korean Peninsula, the North Korean nuclear issue, as well as growing tensions with Japan. A fresh topic to bring to the table were the high-level North/South Korean talks that were held on Wednesday, an event first of its kind in the past 7 years. The president of the United States plans to visit Seoul this coming April.
Kerry and Park’s meeting well exceeded their scheduled 45 minutes, finishing at over an hour and a half, delaying another meeting with Yun and a joint press conference.
