US Chief Technology Officer Todd Y. Park will be joining the Obama Administration team tasked to work on issues that arose after the administration’s highly anticipated launch of healthcare exchange website HealthCare.gov. Park, formerly of the medical technology companies Athenahealth Inc. and Castlight Health Inc., will be working with a team hired by the administration, dubbed the “best and brightest” technology minds in the US.
Previously Park has been working with the US Department of Health and Human Services as an “entrepreneur-in-residence” with the title of the Department’s Chief Technology Officer, helping to utilize technology and data in the administration’s efforts to create HealthCare.gov in anticipation of the 2010 Affordable Care Act mandate to insure most Americans by January of next year.
Since its launch in the beginning of this month, the healthcare exchange website has encountered several problems, including inaccurate federal tax credit information and frequent crashes due to “traffic bottleneck” created by the application process. As a member of the special team convoked by the administration, Park will be identifying and fixing issues encountered by applicants on the website.
