Kia Motors will recall 86,880 Forte sedans in the U.S. due to a fault in the cooling-fan resistor that can cause the part to overheat and melt, increasing the risk of fire. The recall will start Feb. 24 and affects those models manufactured between December 2012 and April 2014.
In Korea, the Forte is sold as the K3. A Kia official said: "We detected overheating of the cooling fan resistor in some cars following heavy snow in the northern parts of the U.S." The recall only applies to Forte models sold in the U.S.
