"My Love from the Stars" star Kim Soo-hyun will make his big-screen comeback in an action-thriller early next year, his agency said Thursday. Kim will play a gangster in the upcoming Korean flick, which centers on what happens to his character after he is visited by a reporter, Keyeast Co. said.
Kim plays Jang Tae-young, a merciless gangster whose job is to yield violence on behalf of his clients and solve their "problems." His ambition is to build a casino hotel and conquer the city where he lives. This would be Kim's first big-screen role since "Secretly, Greatly," a Korean action film that drew 7 million viewers in South Korea in 2013.
Written and directed by Lee Jeong-seop of "The Perfect Couple" (2007) and "Lost in Love" (2006), "Real" is scheduled to start filming in October for release in local theaters possibly in the second half of next year.
