Korea is to play Thailand in the men's football semifinal in the 2014 Asian Games in Incheon on Tuesday. Korea beat Japan 1-0 in the quarterfinal on Sunday. Thailand has been a force to reckon with in this year's Asiad. It won all three matches at the group stage, beating the Maldives 2-0, East Timor 3-0, and Indonesia 6-0.
In the next rounds Thailand defeated China and Jordan 2-0. Winning all five matches, Thailand scored 15 without allowing a goal. Korea and Thailand are the only two teams that have not yet surrendered a goal.
Korea is well ahead of Thailand in the all-time international record with 30 wins, seven draws, and nine losses. In the Asiad alone, Korea recorded five wins and two losses against Thailand. But since the 1986 Asian Games in Seoul, Korea has not won gold in men’s football. If Korea wins Tuesday's game, it will face either Iraq or North Korea in the final on Thursday.
