Korea won one silver and one bronze medal on the last day of the fencing competition at the 2014 Asian Games in Incheon. Korea lost to China 43-19 in the women's epee team event final in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province on Thursday. The women’s epee fencing team, which won gold at the 2002 Busan Asian Games, had hoped to regain the title at this year’s event.
The men's foil team was beaten by Japan 45-29 in the team semifinal and ended up with a bronze medal. The Korean fencing team bagged a total of 17 medals -- eight gold, six silver and three bronze -- to achieve its best result to date at the Asian Games. Four years ago at Guangzhou, it won seven gold, two silver and five bronze medals.
Korea is at the top of the fencing medal count for this year's Asian Games. China came in second with three gold, three silver and five bronze medals, followed by Japan with one silver and three bronze.
