Korean Automakers Reducing Prices To Rid Inventory

Hyundai is slashing the price of the new Genesis by up to W3.5 million to get rid of inventory (US$1=W1,098). Hyundai and affiliate Kia are also offering up to W400 million and W2 million discounts on the large Aslan and K9 sedans.
Hyundai said Tuesday that customers who buy the Genesis sedan this month can get a W500,000 discount and another W3 million discount if they buy a model produced before October of last year.
Aslan buyers get additional W1 million discount if they currently own a Hyundai, and K9 sedans produced last month are on sale now for W1 million less, while another W1 million discount is possible for purchases using Hyundai Capital’s hire-purchase program.
Avante compacts manufactured before October last year are on sale for up to W2 million discounts ahead of the release of a new model later this year. GM Korea is offering discounts of up to W2 million on inventory models to mark the fourth anniversary of the launch of the Chevrolet brand here. The Alpheon large sedan is being sold at a discount of up to W4.2 million.
