Hwang Young-shik won a gold medal in the individual dressage event at the 2014 Incheon Asian Games. Hwang earned 153.286 points to win his second gold at the Asian Games, outriding his teammate, Kim Dong-seon, who had to settle for silver with a score of 150.699.
Hwang started riding horses and became an equestrian due to his father who runs an equestrian business. In dressage, riders and their horses are expected to perform pre-determined movements in an arena. They are judged on how accurately and beautifully they move together in harmony.
Korea won a gold medal in the team's event last week, so now it has five consecutive Asiad titles in both individual and team events since the 1998 Asian Games in Bangkok.
