KOSPI Breaks 2,100 Points

The Korea Composite Stock Price Index on Tuesday surpassed 2,100 points for the first time in three years and eight months. The KOSPI closed up 0.61 percent at 2,111.72 points. Total market capitalization rose to a new high of W1,318 trillion (US$1=W1,096).
Foreigners led the buying spree, while private and institutional investors took profits. Foreigners bought almost W400 billion worth of stocks. They have purchased around W4 trillion worth so far this year, three times more than in early 2011, when the KOSPI reached a record.
