The number of confirmed cases of Middle East Respiratory Syndrome continues to increase although the rate of infections is showing signs of slowing. According to the Ministry of Health and Welfare on Thursday, the number of confirmed MERS cases rose to 180 with five new additions. The number of deaths remained at 27.
Tertiary infections seem to continue as those who caught the virus are scattered in hospitals across the country. The ministry said it will maintain a partial closure of Samsung Medical Center in Seoul as they need more time to research confirmed patients. The partial closure was originally planned to end on Wednesday.
Konkuk University Medical Center also decided to partially close its facilities as the hospital also saw a series of new MERS patients.
