NCT Dream, the teenaged subunit of NCT, on Wednesday broadcast the group's first V live broadcast of the year to mark the launch of their single album, “The First.” Mark, the group’s oldest member and leader, was away overseas while the rest -- Jeno, Renjun, Chenle, Haechan and Jisung -- greeted fans in his absence.
The boys, all aged 16, shared how they spent the Lunar New Year holiday. Haechan met with fans the day before and spent the day itself resting at home.
Renjun was in China, his home country, for a photo shoot. He also enjoyed huo guo, or hot pot, a Chinese dish of meat and vegetable cooked on the table in a pot of broth.
Jisung celebrated his birthday just after Lunar New Year in the beginning of February.
Chenle talked about his most recent obsession, augmented reality-based mobile game “Pokemon Go,” which belatedly launched in Korea on Jan. 24. Chenle said his favorite is Pikachu, which he had so far caught 25 of.
The band urged fans to check out the music video and all the tracks off “The First,” which was set to launch three hours after their V broadcast, at midnight on Wednesday.
“The First” contains Korean and Chinese versions of “My First and Last” and “Bubble Gum,” as well as a Korean version of “Dunk Shot.”
The lead song “My First and Last” is about teenaged first love charged with innocence and energy.
NCT Dream will showcase its songs on Mnet’s “M! Countdown” at 6 p.m. on Thursday.
