North Korean athletes arrived in Incheon on Sunday to take part in the annual Korean Open table tennis tournament in Daejeon this week. A 25-strong North Korean delegation including eight male and eight female athletes headed to Daejeon by bus upon their arrival in Incheon.
The International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF)-sanctioned tournament kicks off in Daejeon on Tuesday and runs until July 22. The two Korea will field unified teams in three disciplines -- the men's, women's and mixed doubles.
It is only the third international table tennis event to involve unified Korean teams, after the World Championships in Japan in 1991 and in Sweden earlier this year.
The South and North Korean athletes will have training sessions together on Monday.
