North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has decorated the Moranbong band and Air Force choir for their contributions in celebrating the 70th anniversary of the Workers Party. The Air Force choir consists of men only and was favored by former leader Kim Jong-il. The Moranbong band is a troupe of young female singers and instrumentalists who often dress up in mini-skirts, high-heeled shoes and off-the-shoulder tops.
The troupe, which debuted in 2012, enjoyed a brief moment in the international spotlight by dressing up as Disney characters for one performance but has not been seen on TV since July, fanning rumors that they have fallen from favor.
