Maroo Entertainment, which manages boy group Supernova (Choshinsung) has released an official statement regarding member Yoon Sungmo’s DUI arrest earlier today (KST). The agency explained the situation and offered an apology to fans for the delinquent act.

They stated, “Yoon Sungmo had dinner and light drinks with an acquaintance at around 1:20 AM today (Monday, March 7 KST). He was on his way home, driving his own car. Since there were no cars on the road at that time of night, he ignored the traffic light and was about to enter an alley, when he saw a police checkpoint and was found to be drunk driving. After being tested, he was found to have a blood alcohol content of 0.092 percent, and he has currently been sent home by the police.”

The agency further asserted that they are still in the process of finding out more details about the incident, making a promise to update everyone once the investigation is complete. Maroo Entertainment assures fans that Yoon Sungmo is currently reflecting on his mistakes and plans on fully complying with any further investigations regarding the matter. The agency also took responsibility for not taking care of their artists more properly, concluding with an apology for causing fans concern and a promise to avoid situations like this in the future.

A previous report by Korean news outlet MBN announced that a member of a male idol group who has popularity in Japan was arrested by police after being caught with a DUI. According to the report, the 30-year-old Mr. Yoon drove to the center of the line in a road on Samjeon-dong and made an illegal U-turn. When ordered to stop, he ignored it and attempted to drive away. He later hit a telephone pole and continued to drive away. However, after making a sudden left and stopping on a street in Seokchon-dong, the police car in pursuit of him hit him. Two policemen were injured in the crash.

Fans and netizens find it concerning that the two reports are quite different in terms of details. It’s speculated that perhaps Maroo Entertainment has yet to learn the full details of the incident, or there may have been a discrepancy in the initial report.
