Former St. Louis Cardinals reliever Oh Seung-hwan failed to see his proposed deal with the Texas Rangers concluded, according to U.S. media reports. MLB.com on Saturday said that a potential deal between the Rangers and Oh had been called off. The club did not disclose the reason.
According to the Dallas Morning News, however, "There were disconcerting issues that came up on the MRI of his arm."
In 2016, Oh, who earlier played in Korea and Japan, signed a one-year contract with the St. Louis Cardinals worth up to US$11 million with an option for a second season.
He is now a free agent as his contract with the Cardinals ended after two years. He may still try to find another club, but local media said that could be difficult if the Rangers turned him down for medical reasons.
