[OP-ED] Summer Programs in South Korea

Have you ever thought about studying abroad in Korea for the Summer? Lucky for you, there are 3 universities that will begin to accept applications this upcoming January!

1. Yonsei University

Yonsei University will begin to accept applications on January 4th, 2017 until May 17th, 2017. In order to be eligible for the program, you must be currently enrolled in college or an accredited university. High school students that are going to begin college are also allowed to apply for this program. All students applying must have a 2.5 GPA or higher. Some fees include application fees, tuition fees, housing fees, and field trip fees. However, only tuition and application fees are mandatory.

2. Korea University


Korea University will be accepting applications on January 9th until May 17th, 2017. There is an application fee of ₩100,000 ($86 USD) that is non-refundable. Once Korea University receives your application fee and official transcripts, their ISC office will mail the required documents for the visa application.

3. Chung-Ang University


Chung-Ang University offers two sessions for their Summer program. The first session is for 31 days and the second session is for about 22 days. Both sessions have cultural activities included. The application period will be from January 11th until May 15th for the first session and January 11th until June 17th for the second session. Girl's Generation's Yuri and Sooyoung both graduated from Chung-Ang with famous actress Park Shin Hye.

Make sure you visit your international studies advisor on your campus in order to begin the process of studying abroad. Please be sure to double check all documents in order to avoid mistakes. Lastly, don't get discouraged if you don't get accepted. There are many other opportunities for a chance to study abroad.
