With viewership for “Moonlight Drawn by Clouds” rising, it seems likely that the period drama’s lead actor Park Bo Gum will soon have to keep a promise he made to fans. Park plays prince Lee Young in the series. He said he would hold a fan meeting if viewership ratings go over 20 percent. He added he would do so in Gwanghwamun Plaza in Seoul, dressed in hanbok, or Korean traditional costume, along with other cast members.
The KBS 2TV show has emerged as the most popular series shown on Mondays and Tuesdays, in terms of viewership. Ratings for its third episode Monday rose to 16 percent from the 8.5 percent of the previous episode, according to Nielsen Korea on Tuesday.
In an interview with news outlet TV Report on Tuesday, the drama’s producer Kang Byeong-taek said Park’s promise will probably have to be fulfilled in the near future, considering the rapid upward trend in viewer ratings.
“I told him to be prepared (for the fan event),” Kang said.
To Kang, the sudden rise in ratings was a surprise. “The atmosphere on set was great already and it seems to be better than great,” he said.
