Six out of ten conscripts take no pride in their military service, a survey suggests. According to an opinion poll released Wednesday by the Military Manpower Administration, 57.8 percent of respondents said that "their pride has not grown" or that "they take not much pride" in their military service.
The numbers who saw any gain in their conscription were not overwhelming, though some 28.7 percent welcomed the challenge and 26.9 percent thought it might improve their physical and mental health. But honor and pride rated a low 11.2 percent and skills development and social adjustment 6.3 percent. The survey was conducted among 4,626 servicemen in the Army, Navy, Air Force and Marine Corps in July and August last year.
