Samsung Electronics' market share for ultra-high-definition TVs in North America was 62 percent based on sales revenue in the third quarter, according to the market researcher NPD DisplaySearch. This is the first time that Samsung's market share exceeded 60 percent, increasing 5.3 percentage points from the 56.7 percent posted in the second quarter of this year.
Samsung's market share also hit a record high at 34.7 percent in the region's digital TV market, which includes LCD and LED TVs. "The rise in market share can be attributed to the fact that expensive curved display TVs accounted for over 40 percent of our UHD TV sales," Samsung said.
