Samsung Electronics increased its market share in the global TV market while maintaining the No. 1 spot, the electronics giant said Wednesday. Samsung accounted for the largest share in terms of revenue in the second quarter of this year with 28.5 percent, according to market researcher IHS DisplaySearch. In terms of sales, it also took the top spot with 21.4 percent. The figures rose 1.4 and 1.1 percentage points, respectively, from the previous quarter.
LG Electronics came second with 14.1 percent, followed by Japan's Sony with 7.3 percent, China's Hisense with 5.5 percent and TCL with 4.9 percent. Although Samsung's global shipments declined by about 1.89 million units to 48 million, it kept the lead over its rivals.
