At IFA 2015 in Berlin, Germany, Samsung Electronics attracted visitors with a unique cooking show combining dishes made by world-class chefs and virtual reality. The “Cine des Chefs” event, which began with the official opening of the IFA on September 4, showed how culinary masters make dishes with Samsung’s “Chef Collection” series of premium kitchen appliances, and offered a chance to taste their food.
Attendees were asked to put on Samsung “Gear VR” headsets to watch chefs harvest fresh produce and cook their dishes. Michel Troisgros, a world-renowned chef and president of Samsung Club des Chefs, gave viewers an exclusive look at a day in the life of a Michelin-starred chef, from choosing the freshest ingredients to incorporating them into fantastic culinary delights.
Besides Troisgros, world-class chefs Elena Arzak and Modest Amaro joined the cooking show and shared their own favorite recipes using the Chef Collection appliances. On the second day, Korean chefs showed off their skills by making Korea traditional foods like baekgimchi and other fusion dishes. Through the “Club des Chefs” project, a collaboration with seven Michelin-starred chefs, Samsung is developing the Chef Collection series of products with the chefs’ unique insights and fresh ideas.
