Samsung Galaxy S5 Launches in Korea

The wait is over, at least in Korea that is. Samsung Electronics is finally launching the new Galax S5 smartphone this Thursday. The smartphone will come at a price of W860,000 ($1 USD – W1,079), and will be offered through SK Telecom, KT, and LG Uplus.

The Korean tech giant planned to release the phone both internationally and at home starting April 11th, but they decided to launch at home earlier due to some struggles a few of the companies are facing.

SK Telecom has been issued a 45-day sales ban from April 5th – May 19th following a guilty verdict on offering excessive subsidies to new customers.

KT and LG Uplus both currently experience the sales ban, but have permission to upgrade current customers who want to switch to the new smart phone.

With Samsung plugging the phone in over 60 countries, it seems that there will not be enough stock to meet large supply orders. Only a small volume will be available in limited dealerships.
