Samsung Electronics Co. said Friday it has updated the augmented-reality (AR) emoji program of the Galaxy S9 smartphones with Disney characters, allowing users to create various emojis imitating their facial expressions. The AR emoji is one of the new features adopted by the Galaxy S9 smartphones. Users can create emojis resembling their faces through the camera, or have various characters, such as a rabbit, follow their facial expressions.
The South Korean tech giant said users can download Disney's flagship characters, such as Mickey and Minnie Mouse, to the AR emoji program.
"Through our cooperation with Disney, which created characters loved by people everywhere, users of the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus will be able to communicate with AR emojis of Mickey and Minnie," Samsung Electronics said.
Samsung added that more updates will follow in the near future, hinting that characters from The Incredibles, Zootopia, and Frozen will also be made available through its AR emoji platform.
"By extending our characters and stories to new digital platforms, we are creating daily Disney experiences everywhere our audience goes, and we are able to draw in new generations of fans," said John Love, Vice President of Disney Consumer Products and Interactive Media. "The Disney AR Emojis offer an innovative approach to content for the Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus and a fun way to bring magic to messages."
