Samsung Has Most Patents in U.S. After IBM

Samsung has accumulated the second-largest number of patents in the U.S. so far this year. Citing data from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, business outlet Quartz said Sunday that Samsung registered 4,143 patents through the end of July this year. The number was up by 1.2 percent from the same period last year, averaging 19.5 patents per day.
IBM has the most patents, with 5,797. Intel was third with 2,064, followed by Google (1,775), Microsoft (1,673) and Apple (1,559).
Samsung has obtained 44,301 patents since 2010, putting it at No. 2 after IBM with 53,926.
