K-pop group SHINee’s Taemin clinched first prize in Mnet’s competition show “Hit the Stage” in a recent episode Wednesday. The winner of the previous episode was BlockB’s U-Kwon, who scored 158 points with his musical-like performance as a Joker from Batman. In the show’s second episode, Hyoyeon from Girls’ Generation, Shownu from MonstaX, Hoya from Infinite and Taemin took to the stage.
Taemin was paired with Japanese dancer Koharu and they performed last.
They used one of Taemin’s songs as background music and showcased delicate yet powerful choreography. The judges said that the chemistry between Taemin and Koharu was unbelievable and described their performance as the best.” The pair received a score of 189, the highest on the program so far.
Another performance Hyoyeon scored 152 for a powerful sports dance showcase. Meanwhile, Shownu showed a masculine performance but unfortunately made a mistake in the middle. Hoya grabbed attention with a performance concept similar to U-Kwon’s. However, he pulled off the dance with his own style and scored 159, one point higher than the previous winner.
Mnet’s “Hit the Stage” is a dance competition program in which K-pop idols and professional dancers team up and compete. The show airs Wednesdays at 11 p.m.
