Singer and Actress Yoo Chae Young Passes Away

Singer and actress Yoo Chae Young has passed away after her fight with stomach cancer. Yoo Chae Young was born on September 22, 1973. At the age of 17, she debuted as one of the original members of the K-pop group Cool.
She initially received much attention from the media due to sporting a shaved head. After her stint with Cool, she later debuted as one half of the K-pop duo US, eventually releasing two albums with the group. In 1999, she debuted her solo career.
As an actress, Yoo was known for her role in the comedy films Sex Is Zero and Sex Is Zero 2. She also starred in several Korean dramas. In 2009, after nearly a decade of absence from the music scene, she released a new solo album, titled, Another Decade. Yoo was diagnosed with cancer in October 2013.
Her agency stated through a press release, "Singer and actress Yoo Chae Young has passed away at the age of 41 (40 international age)... Yoo Chae Young, who was fighting gastric cancer, passed away at the Severance Hospital in Shinchon on the 24th at 8 AM... Her husband and her family guarded her side until the very last moment... We hope that you remember her bright image and we pray that she rests in peace."
