SMTOWN at the COEX Artium in Samsungdong held a grand opening ceremony on January 13th before they officially opened on January 14th, and also premiered the SM Entertainment hologram musical, "School Oz".
The six levels of the building give fans a chance to experience K-Pop in all different kinds of aspects and details such as shopping, hair, and makeup to get the full artist experience and of course the performance event. The building also features a cafe, a gift shop, studio, and much more! The building is truly a fantasy come to life for K-Pop fans who always wondered how SMTOWN operated and wished to try living the life of an idol for a day.
Also attending the event were SM's chief producers and many of the artists such as EXO, f(x)'s Sulli and Luna, Girls' Generation, and INFINITE. Lee Soo Man stepped onto the stage and gave everyone a warm welcome by saying, "I wondered how it would be to create an amusement park in the city. That's why the name is 'Theme Park in the City.' I think it might be something we need as a city in the future. This is SM's city theme park of which I had dreamt for a long time," and discussed his dreams and goals for the new building.
There were many performances such as Taeyeon's "If", Yuri's "Gee" dance, animation character Larva and EXO Sehun's performance, and a digest video for "School Oz" seen in the hologram.
